| Rice Krispies Treats 1/4 c. butter (3 T) 4 c. miniature marshmallows or 40 lg. marshmallows 6 c. Rice Krispies cereal Stove top method: Melt margarine in large saucepan over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Remove from heat. Microwave method: Melt butter and marshmallows for 2 minutes in the microwave. Take out and stir. Put back in microwave for 1 more minute. Add cereal. Stir until well coated. Press mixture evenly with a buttered spatula or waxed paper into a greased 9x13 inch pan. Cut into squares. For best results, use fresh marshmallows. 1 jar (7 oz.) marshmallow creme can be substituted for marshmallows. Variations: · Add 1/4 cup peanut butter, stirring into marshmallow mixture before adding cereal. · Use Cocoa Krispies instead of the original. · Melt a package of chocolate chips and pour over the top. · Melt caramels, pour over the top and then pour melted chocolate chips over the caramel. |
